For my people in FL, many have asked what was the deal Q92 and my exit. I’ll explain it the best I can. In September 2011 I was hired to do mornings, under Qantum Communictions. The company didn’t have a ton of money, but I truly loved it. I’d come in at 4:30-5am and sometimes not leave til 6-7pm. I got active with the local high schools and community. With the help of my Operations Manager, we came up with great ideas, helped move the stations music in a more effective format, created some amazing imaging. I loved it. In December 2011, Qantum told us they were selling the company, to Apex Broadcasting. At the beginning of March, I was told I was moving to nights, but not to mention it on air during my last morning show. My last morning, it was announced that Apex officially bought us…an hour later they fired my General Manager.

In April we knew Fly 92.1 would become Q92. Also added, would be a Program Director, whom I’d heard of, but never met or talked to. In an effort to stay positive about the situation I reached out about helping with Q, when the PD arrived, I remember walking up to him and in my goofy and laid back self I stuck my hand out to shake his hand and said “What the heck is going on?”. He turned around, and just nodded and said “What’s up”, then turned back around to continue to discuss “business”.

From then on the feel around the building wasn’t the same. The once “family feel” of the office was quiet, and our moral had disappeared. Instead of me being involved in meetings and with Q, I was shoved to the side. Case and point, things didn’t work out, and I moved back to SC.

Back to SC:
…the greatest decision of my life. I went back to Hot 98.1. The entire staff is family. From our promotions people to my bosses. My General Manager is one of the greatest leaders I think I know. With a total of four stations and all of them run on all 8 cylinders. Aside from that, I’ve been working 7 days a week at sometimes 21 hours a day to make my business a 1000% success.

I think my point in this, is, I know there were several people from FL that came to this website for their latest gossip on Snooki, but I think this website should be more than that. We have 1,000 of those dumbass websites that feed us gossip on people we will never meet.

The point of my story is, life is always going to hand you a curve ball, but it’s all about how you catch it. When I got let go from Apex in FL, I was thankful and lucky to have people back home to hook me up with jobs. I have a fiancée who has been through every second of this with me, and I’m honestly thankful she’s been there to at times keep me sane.

To the people that listened to me in FL, thank you. My best times were getting up and trying to entertain you at 6am in the morning. I miss it so bad, but at the same time, radio isn’t what it was 10 years ago. Ryan Seacrest is on every station, and jocks are being told to not talk anymore than :10 per talk break. I miss the days of radio when you could get to know the guy on the radio.

I’m blessed to be at a station where EVERY guy on air is local. Where we can go shake the listeners hands and that we haven’t sold out to syndicated radio.

…and it’s the worst!  If you plan to write a song for someone close to you that’s passed away, I’m all for it.  But don’t make it about YOU!  In Bobby Brown’s new song which will also be featured on his new album, the title is actually named “Don’t Let Me Die”.  Which have lyrics like: “I didn’t realize that every breath I took was from you … You were my air.”

He’s the biggest jerk on the planet.  With more lyrics like ,”I guess I messed up pretty bad … I didn’t know who you were … I didn’t know what we had. Now I’m stuck living in the past … trying to get the pieces back … but I guess now you’re gone.”  Well, first off, “I guess now you’re gone”?!?  Ya Bobby, she’s gone - and now you’re trying to feed off her death for record sales.

Jennifer Lopez could be stepping away from American Idol. Sources say she’s “just too busy”. Wait, she’s “too busy”? Before Idol it seemed like she’d dropped off the face of the earth? And apparently FOX is in love with the girl on the show?! Maybe I just don’t understand her? Maybe after her driving around in her Fiat, I got off the JLO train (eww, that sounded wrong). Fact is, I get she has a world tour about to take off, and has to also try to play mom. But for like…$20 MILLION, I think I could find time to fly back and forth for some extra cash like that, just my opinion!
